As part of this series of blogs, I will be going through a number of things that we have used with our daughter (age 4). These various tools / games / resources are things we have found useful and they have helped us immensely in different ways.

The first up is the Little Talk cards by the company Best Self.

These cards have been superb in sparking conversations with things we really would not otherwise discuss with our daughter. They come in 6 different categories; hopes & dreams, likes & dislikes, reflection, self-expression, emotional intelligence and random.

They have really helped us understand our daughter’s world and – especially during lockdown – create a better environment. We are always learning and can always improve how we do things but to take this moment to ask and learn about what your child thinks is important.

I believe it creates a confidence with a child where they believe they are listened to and their opinion matters.

We also participate in answering these questions to create more of an open forum – a safe space to share your opinion.

Value for money:

Ease of use:

Verdict: definitely look to buy this if you’re looking for something to spark deeper conversations with your children. At £20 it might seem a bit steep but they’re good fun and worth the money.
